Downey & Scott performed cost estimating services for the addition and renovation to this existing 22,544 GSF library located in Montgomery County, MD. Total hard construction costs, including all associated site work, were estimated at $8,650,000.
This project's design will increase both children and adult areas, lower shelving heights and widen aisles, add group study and quiet study rooms, improved access and use of meeting room, and have self check stations. This project is designed to achieve LEED Silver by: Redeveloping within the existing infrastructure, utilizing recycled materials, saving the site's existing tree grove, utilizing natural lighting, having a bio-retention basin for on-site water quality, and having energy efficient HVAC and lighting systems to name a few.
