Brief Description:

Downey & Scott / MCM provided full construction management services for this 50,000 square foot recreational facility with indoor competition and 7,700 square foot leisure pools, fitness center, office and multi-purpose recreational space and seating for 215 spectators.  

Duties included pre-construction services including budget/cost estimating and control, before moving into the construction phase where our firm managed quality assurance, documentation of work tasks, enforcement of the project schedule, management and prompt review of all shop drawings, responses to RFI’s and construction change directives, monitoring applications for payment, providing assistance in analyzing requests for change orders to name a few. Additionally our firm assisted in the coordination with the security system design and coordinated commissioning and project closeout.

The WARF is a 59,738 square foot building featuring an 11 lane, 25 yard-by-25 meter, 364,000 gallon indoor competition pool; a 3,600 gallon therapeutic spa and a 68,000 gallon leisure pool with a water slide, lazy river, vortex and a zero depth entry for easy entrance by toddlers, seniors and those in wheel chairs.  The WARF also has a 3,200 square foot fitness room equipped with upright and recumbent cycles, treadmills, elliptical trainers, circuit training gear and free weights.  Fitness classes for those of all abilities are held in the WARF's multi-purpose room.

The park area surrounding the WARF features seven rectangular playing fields, paved hiking paths, an inline skating rink and skate park, and the new Claude Moore Fun For All Playground.
