Project Name: Langston Brown Center
Location: Arlington County, VA
Owner: Arlington Public Schools
Designer: Berry Rio Architects
Project Budget: $8,195,000
Brief Description:

Downey & Scott provided cost estimating services for this 50,323 GSF project which consisted of a facility replacement in Arlington County.

Langston Brown Center is a multi-purpose building which combines a head start program, senior day care center, community recreational facilities, and office space for Arlington County Public Schools.

This project achieved LEED silver status with features which maximized the use of natural daylight in the classrooms utilizing clerestory windows, as well as a storm water management system that utilizes an innovative combination of pervious pavement, bio-retention gardens, and a rooftop rainwater collection system to reduce flow and improve runoff quality.

It was the first LEED certified facility in the region.  As we worked on the pre-construction phase of this project we created cost sharing data for use between Arlington County Public Schools and the General County Government.
