We have worked with Downey & Scott for over 10 years, and I worked with Bill Downey prior to that. Our relationship with the company and its principals is firmly established. I have found Bill and his staff to be a great group to work with. One of the biggest aspects of working with them is the flexibility demonstrated with meeting the demands we have. We cannot always use the cost analysis format that they utilize and they are willing and able to modify formats and create the document tailored to our specific needs.
They also have their fingers on the pulse of the construction costs in the region. With the current environment, it has become more important than ever to have a cost control group that is able to react and identify the areas where budgets are out of the current norm and to assist in ways to reduce the costs. Their understanding of the market results in cost estimates that are close to the actual bid costs. This is important in allowing clients to adequately budget for the work.
The other aspect I enjoy about Bill and his team is the willingness to try and help regardless of the issue. I have had need of information for projects they were not involved with, and they always come through. This "can do" attitude is something that must be prevalent in the Principals to become a philosophy of the company. That attitude does exist with Downey & Scott.
Our experience with Downey & Scott is more than favorable, and we will continue to work with them and to have them as team members on our projects.
