Over the years, Georgetown University has proposed several designs to build out their 2,500-seat multi-purpose stadium, but lack of the needed funds stopped any from materializing. In 2004 designs were approved by the Georgetown board, followed by the design getting amended once again in 2008 to lower costs which included dropping the double deck seating and "Gothic Portals." Construction was halted in 2005 and the stadium remains the smallest in Division I football.
Downey & Scott performed various pre-construction services including cost estimating for this new multi-sports stadium. Initially after our first evaluation the project cost was in excess of $30,000,000. Over the course of the following year Downey & Scott work with the design team to develop a reduced scope of work for this facility and bring the project's hard construction costs down to the total listed above.
